‘One of the best’ – Frank Lampard backs Dele and Van de Beek to shine at Everton

Frank Lampard believes Dele Alli can get back to being ‘one of the best players in the Premier League’ under him, and backed Donny Van de Beek to shine at Everton too.

All three men joined the club on deadline day in what was a ‘hectic’ day for the football club as they secured a new manager, a loan signing and a permanent deal.

Now Lampard, who is preparing for his first game as boss this weekend in the FA Cup against Brentford, has revealed his hopes for both of his new arrivals.

“We are excited about getting to work with Dele,” he said in his pre-match press conference. “He has all the attributes to be one of the best players in the Premier League.

“That was the level he attained a couple of years ago and I can see the hunger in him to get back there.

“We need to be patient with Dele, he’s come to a new club and not had an awful lot of football of late.

“But the Dele I know scores and creates goals, he’s aggressive and passionate and up for the fight. There is everything in there to be a proper Everton player.

“Donny is another player who needs a platform to show what he can do. We want more goals from midfield and he can help with that.

“He’s a tremendous passer of the ball and can put his foot in, too. Above all, talking to Donny, I could see the motivation and desire to play for Everton.”

Uplifting

To hear that there is finally some sort of plan in place at Everton Football Club is music to all fans’ ears at this point.

So far this season the club have just limped game to game and it’s shown in their poor results and performances for the most part.

Lampard has come in and immediately set his intentions out there, with an emphasis on playing out from the back and keeping the ball in midfield while providing a threat beyond the forwards.

If anyone can get the best out of Dele and Van de Beek it’s likely to be the man with the most goals from midfield in Premier League history. They can all make themselves Everton heroes in a matter of months.

With the club’s league position a big talking point, their goals and performances could be the difference between staying in the Premier League and relegation. No pressure lads!
