‘Insult’ – Geremi gives verdict on Everton boss Frank Lampard as manager
Everton boss Frank Lampard is a ‘top manager’ and anyone who says otherwise is just insulting him, according to former Chelsea teammate Geremi.
Lampard was appointed as manager of the Toffees last week, after over a year out of the game following his sacking at Chelsea.
But while the ex-England international has come under criticism for walking into big jobs despite a lack of experience, Geremi told the Daily Mail that he believes Lampard has all the capabilities to become a top manager.

“This profession is so interesting because if there aren’t the results, they will sack you, as Frank found out at Chelsea,” he said.
“It doesn’t mean you don’t have the quality. I don’t think they sacked Frank because he did not have the qualities to manage. If you say today that Frank doesn’t have the qualities or the capabilities to manage a top team, that is just an insult.
“He has a lot of experience as a footballer, he has passed his diploma to become a top manager, so only luck remains.
“Everton know what he can bring to their club. We want to see former players taking on the responsibility of management. This is important for the young players.
“Those who saw Frank play, how good and important he was, and he needs to transfer his knowledge to the young generation. It’s important for big players to pay this kind of role.
“Frank is capable of reviving Dele Alli’s career. Sometimes, in this type of situation, you need new motivation so lets wait and see.”

Last chance saloon?
While this is a big opportunity for Lampard, it’s also a bit of a gamble from Everton’s point of view considering their league position.
The Toffees have one win in 14 games and currently sit in 16th place in the Premier League, just four points above the relegation zone.
Lampard doesn’t have the experience of battling at this end of the table and if it goes pear shaped then Everton could be playing Championship football.
Added on to that expectation though, is the fact that Lampard is fighting for his own reputation too. After failure at Chelsea, he took a hit among fans and media and needs to do a good job in order to get back to his status of yesteryear.
This is a situation that can go one of two ways, but Geremi seems certain that it will go the right way for Everton and Lampard.
