GN View: Everton predicted XI vs Newcastle – Dele and Van de Beek to start?

Everton are expected to make four changes to the team for Frank Lampard’s first Premier League game as manager against Newcastle on Tuesday.

The Toffees claimed a 4-1 win against Brentford in the FA Cup at the weekend, but now turn their attention to the Premier League as they battle for safety.

When they travel to Newcastle it will have all the makings of a six-pointer with both teams fighting for survival, so Lampard must get his team selection right to continue their momentum.

In goal, Jordan Pickford is the undisputed number one and should keep his place in the side despite conceding a penalty at the weekend.

Ben Godfrey hobbled out of the cup game with a hamstring injury so he won’t play, but Yerry Mina replaced him and scored in that game so he should come into the side.

With Lampard expected to revert to a 4-3-3 system, it’s a shootout between Mason Holgate and Michael Keane next to him and the youngster’s goal should tip that in his favour. Seamus Coleman and Vitaly Mykolenko should continue at full-back.

In midfield, Allan managed to get an assist for Richarlison’s goal and his overall performance was excellent. The Brazilian should therefore keep that holding role for himself, and be the glue alongside debutants Donny Van de Beek and Dele Alli.

In attack, Demarai Gray continued his excellent season on the left and linked up well with Richarlison so they should both start.

It will be a slightly different look though, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin is expected to return from injury and should start as the number nine for the Toffees.

Predicted Everton XI vs Newcastle: Pickford; Coleman, Holgate, Mina, Mykolenko; Allan, Dele, Van de Beek; Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin, Gray.
