Super Computer makes Everton relegation prediction after Newcastle loss

Everton are predicted to avoid relegation from the Premier League to the Championship despite their recent defeat to Newcastle.

The Toons beat the Toffees 3-1 in what was Frank Lampard’s first league game in charge.

After sacking Rafa Benitez, they have lost both their league games and the ex Chelsea boss is now being tasked to keep them up in the division.

FiveThirtyEight’s Super Computer has crunched the numbers and expects Everton to finish in 16th place.

They’re predicted to score three points fewer than the magic 40, but that should be enough to keep them up.

Good enough?

There was a flurry of recruitment on deadline day after Lampard’s appointment was made official.

Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek are two players who are in a bad patch, but their quality is unparalleled.

Both have proven in the Champions League what they’re capable of and Alli has done it in the Premier League as well under Mauricio Pochettino.

Given how Lampard was as a player, he can get these two back on track and perform consistently for the Toffees.

However, in order to do that, something needs to change quickly and he’s got a massive task on his hands.

Hopefully, he manages to get a tune out of the rest of the players as well and try finishing close to the top half of the table.
