Lampard pulled van de Beek for chat ahead of Everton v Leeds United

Frank Lampard made it a point to speak to Allan and Donny van de Beek individually ahead of Everton v Leeds United on Saturday.

The Netherlands international joined the Toffees on loan on transfer deadline day.

After struggling at Manchester United, the midfielder made his first Premier League start for his new club.

Ahead of the game, Liverpool Echo’s Adam Jones, wrote, “Lampard during the pre-match drills has also pulled both Allan and Donny van de Beek for little individual chats

“Perhaps some late advice for the midfield pair from someone who knows a bit about that position.”

Worked out well

The Dutchman was deployed in a slightly deeper position for the clash against Leeds.

However, that did not stop him from impacting proceedings as he appeared to be a tidy customer in the middle and final thirds of the pitch.

He did play a key pass that led to the Toffees’ opening goal and apart from that, he always seemed available to receive the ball.

His constant movement gave the Leeds players a nightmare and he could excel even further playing as a number 10.

Whether or not that’s where Lampard deems his best position remains to be seen.

However, the Goodison Park faithful certainly could not have asked for more from his first league start for them.
