Everton wow Andy Gray in dominant victory v Leeds

Frank Lampard secured his first Premier League victory as manager of Everton as the Toffees cruised past Leeds United 3-0 at Goodison Park.

First-half goals from Seamus Coleman and Michael Keane set the Blues on their way before Anthony Gordon completed the win by getting a flick in Richarlison’s long-range shot.

It was a vital three points which sees Everton put five points between them and Norwich City in the relegation zone and just one point behind Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites.

BeIN Sports pundit Andy Gray, a former Toffees striker, was highly impressed by what Lampard’s men did at Goodison, saying it was like nothing he had seen all season.

“That performance bore no resemblance to anything I’ve seen at Goodison this season and I mean even the Brentford game,” Gray said.

“I know they said the cup tie was a win and it was a win, but it wasn’t like that.”

That was the first time in a Premier League game since very early on in the season that Everton have looked like a team, not individuals.

Lampard has clearly got the group united and all pulling in the same direction and nothing less will keep their head above water.

The match stats tell their own story with a whopping 21 shots coming from the boot of a player in blue while only seven came from the home side, none of which troubled Jordan Pickford’s goal.

That is only a small part of the all-around game that Everton put in on Merseyside and to do that in a must-win game is a sign of things changing.

With this crucial win under their belts, they can now go to St. Mary’s next weekend and push on against a Southampton side riding the crest of a wave after four points from two tough away fixtures (Tottenham and Manchester United).
