Everton ace Tom Davies admits ‘surreal’ Frank Lampard takeover

Tom Davies has lifted the lid on the ‘surreal’ nature of Frank Lampard taking charge at Everton.

The 23-year-old admitted watching Lampard throughout his career and is eager to learn from his fellow Englishman.

With the impact he can make this season limited, Davies has one eye on the future hoping he can take his career to the next level under the new boss.

“The manager that’s come in now has been great with me. He spoke with me and made me feel part of it.” He told SoccerBible.

“For me, he was someone I watched when I was growing up and loved watching him. So, when you have that one-to-one moment with him it’s a bit surreal.

“Being a midfielder, I want to learn as much as I can from him because he’s done everything I’d want to do in the game.

“I feel really lucky to have the opportunity to work with him because in my career it’s going to be a big few years coming up. Hopefully working with him and his staff I can really kick on to the next level.”

Most of the players are in awe of Lampard since he has come in which is great.

It seems as if most of these players had enough of being told what to do by older generation managers with outdated tactics.

Lampard is a young, fresh, exciting manager who is looking to impose his mark on the team and build great bonds with the players whilst doing it – like many a modern manager.

He already has the upper hand with his status in the game already captivating the players, but his sound man-management skills have definitely given him the edge over his unsuccessful predecessors.

Davies would be very smart to learn from the former Chelsea midfielder. He is one of – if not – the best English midfielders of all time so he wouldn’t be a bad person to learn from.

This is an important spell under the new manager for Davies as he gets older and tries to establish himself as a senior player for the Blues.
