Everton ace Yerry Mina offered to Flamengo on loan

Brazilian Serie A club Flamengo have been offered the chance to sign Everton defender Yerry Mina on loan, according to Torcedores journalist Wilson Pimentel.

The Colombian giant is currently sidelined with a hip injury that forced him off against Newcastle United and the will be out for eight-ten weeks as a result.

Radio Brasil journalist Pimentel reports that the 27-year-old was offered to Flamengo by businessman Giuliano Bertolucci and would join initially on a loan deal.

The loan would cost £1.6million and the future purchase of the Colombian is another avenue they can explore at the conclusion of the initial loan.

Flamengo have until 12 April to finalise a deal which is when the Brazilian transfer window slams shut but Torcedores also claim that Mina is interested in the move.

Up to the player

It’s no secret that Mina is a useful player to have around the club for his ability as a defender and his experience at the international level with Colombia.

Frank Lampard will have been carefully assessing every one of his players since he joined the club on 31 January and maybe Mina is someone he wouldn’t mind losing.

Of course, he can offer a lot to the team, not only at set-pieces thanks to his height and aerial prowess, but the decision has to be the player’s here.

Lampard needs to ask Mina if he wants to stay at Goodison Park or move closer to home and head back to South America.

Everton won’t be too worse off without the Colombian and they should have the finances to adequately replace him should he leave for Brazil in the next two months.

Jarrad Branthwaite came on for the 27-year-old at St. James’ Park and he offers just as much in the air even if he is far less experienced at an elite level.
