Kevin Campbell: ‘Lampard knew what he was doing’ with Everton signing of Donny van de Beek
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Frank Lampard picked up his first Premier League win as Everton manager against Leeds with a comfortable 3-0 win at Goodison Park.
Former Toffees’ striker Kevin Campbell watched intently as Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane and Anthony Gordon scored the goals to send the Evertonians home happy.
The 52-year-old was particularly impressed with Lampard’s deadline day signing Donny van de Beek who started for the first time in the blue of Everton against the Whites of Leeds.

“First half especially he was excellent,” Campbell exclusively told Goodison News, “We didn’t really get a chance to see him at Man United but you could see his quality and he’s got a tackle in him as well which was really pleasing to see.
“Frank Lampard knew what he was doing when he was going for him that’s for sure.”
The Dutchman controlled the midfield and his box-to-box capabilities are something Lampard will be keen to utilise in the future.

In the defence though, Campbell thought the entire back four selected on Saturday performed admirably they kept a much-needed clean sheet.
“It was really important to see those players perform. I think Coleman, Holgate, Keane and Kenny were all excellent on the day,” he said.
“Leeds shooting from distance, you can’t do much about that but anything in and around the box they dealt with properly.
“I’m sure Frank Lampard will be very, very happy with the way they performed.”
The Toffees now head to Southampton where they face a tough test against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s in-form Saints.
In other Everton news, a Brazilian club has been offered one of Lampard’s key men on loan, but the deal must be done before 12 April.
