View: Everton must take bold transfer decision on Yerry Mina

Frank Lampard must make a bold decision regarding what to do with Yerry Mina.

The new Everton boss has hailed him on 11 February, via the Daily Mail, as a “top player” and a “big leader” in the group, but his injury record is simply horrible.

The 27-year-old picked up an injury in the 3-1 defeat against Newcastle earlier this month and he is reportedly set to miss action for up to two months [Daily Mail].

But a new situation has emerged.

According to Torcedores journalist Wilson Pimentel, Brazilian Serie A club Flamengo have been offered the chance to sign Mina on loan.

The loan deal would cost around £1.6 million, while the Brazilian club will have an option to explore whether they can sign him permanently upon the conclusion of the deal.

Mina is reportedly interested in the move which makes the case interesting.

When fit, the Colombian is arguably the best in his position at the club, and as Lampard said, he is a leader in the dressing room.

But Mina is someone Lampard won’t mind losing even if it means having an extra defender down.

Everton will still have the likes of Ben Godfrey, Mason Holgate and Michael Keane as three first-team players while Jarrad Branthwaite has shown he can be a reliable deputy.

It’s a tough call Lampard has to make. Should he wait for Mina to get fit? Will he be able to get into the starting line-up straightaway?

Mina has a contract at the club till 2023, and the club could think of the financial side of the deal as well.

Most importantly, there comes a point where a manager needs to trust someone whom he can build his team around. Mina is not that player.

In other Everton news, one Toffee has received strong backing from talkSPORT hosts for avoiding a pub brawl that broke out after he was taunted.
