Jeff Stelling predicts result of Everton clash v Southampton

Jeff Stelling has backed Southampton to beat Everton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Sky Sports host has predicted it will finish 2-1 to the home side as the Toffees look to string some form together.

Frank Lampard will want his side to keep their momentum after smashing Leeds last weekend at Goodison Park.

Sharing his prediction for Sky Sports’ Super 6 on Thursday [17 February], Stelling predicted a close encounter at St Mary’s.

Neil Mellor, a regular on Sky Sports, also predicted the same outcome with the home side taking home all three points.

Momentum.

This is all about momentum and picking up numerous wins on the bounce as they look to climb up the Premier League table.

Getting past Leeds was a huge step, but it will mean nothing if we don’t back it up consistently in the weeks to come.

With the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin returning to partner Richarlison, the danger in the final third has gone through the roof.

If we can keep things shut at the back, them two along with the likes of Anthony Gordon can always create a huge danger to anyone.

Lampard will not be looking to change a winning formula too much, so hopefully, we can do much of the same and come away with the same outcome.

Three points would be massive in this one, and it would all but end out worries of relegation as momentum starts to grow.
