Morgan Schneiderlin ‘regretted’ move to Everton from Man Utd
Everton paid £24million for Morgan Schneiderlin from Manchester United in 2017 and he played a crucial role during his time at Goodison Park.
The France international became a regular starter in midfield for the Toffees under Ronald Koeman but once the Dutchman was gone, neither Sam Allardyce nor Marco Silva favoured him as much.
The now 32-year-old has been plying his trade in his native France for OGC Nice where he has fluttered between first-team regular and substitute since his 2020 move to the club.

In an interview with L’Equipe, Schneiderlin opened up about his move to Everton and why he wished he had never done it.
“I have Ronald Koeman and Everton who are pushing hard to get me, every day, from October. I will remember it all my life: I should have played against Liverpool (October 17, 2016), starter, and the coach (José Mourinho) comes to see me.
“He tells me he doesn’t feel me inside the group. I tell him that indeed, with what has happened in the last three months, I am not in it and I want to go to Everton.
“I regretted it very quickly. Even if it went very well at Everton (Jan. 2017-2020), when you play for Manchester United, when you’re at a club like that, it’s not for a moment of doubt that you have to question everything.”
Lesson to every player
He may have enjoyed his time at Goodison Park but that feeling of what if still haunted him after leaving Old Trafford.

It’s a valuable lesson that every professional player, young and old, needs to remember whenever a transfer window comes about.
You may want a new challenge but it is never wise to force a move through player power unless you are 100% sure it is what you want.
Some players can be too eager to leave their current club and find that the grass isn’t in fact greener on the other side and start to regret the move.
Frank Lampard would do well to remind his players of this when the summer transfer window opens and any players that do want to leave have to make sure they are heading to the right place.
It’s the same for players coming into Everton too as they may not find Merseyside life to their liking and that will massively prohibit their ability on matchday.
