Richard Keys wants Everton to replace Jordan Pickford

Richard Keys has slammed Everton ace Jordan Pickford for his performances against Newcastle and Southampton recently.

The Toffees ended up losing both games and Keys believes that the England number one could do better to keep certain goals out.

He has slammed the 27-year-old for making too many mistakes and wants Frank Lampard to replace him as soon as possible.

He wrote on his blog, “If I’m Lampard my priority is a goalkeeper. I’m afraid Pickford isn’t good enough. He frightens me anytime he’s near the ball – and he’s too often not near enough to it.

“He shouldn’t have let Trippier’s free kick in at Newcastle – and he shouldn’t have been letting Armstrong’s goal in at Soton. There’s too many mistakes in him.

“He must give his defence kittens. He’s a nervous mess – edgy, twitchy, anxious – all the time.”

Tad harsh

Pickford was one of the few players who played decently against Southampton.

Most of the Toffees players looked all over the place and Lampard is yet to instil his footprint on this side.

However, to blame the goalkeeper for conceding the second goal is a tad harsh.

Pickford was blindsided and did not know that three Everton players will all miss the ball, allowing Adam Armstrong a clear shot at goal.

Sure, there are aspects in his game that need improving but he is clearly not the problem in this team.
