Everton v Manchester City player ratings: Jordan Pickford shines
Everton suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against league leaders Manchester City at Goodison Park on Saturday in the Premier League.
The Citizens won the game courtesy of a late goal by Phil Foden and ensured they maintain their lead over Liverpool.
However, for Everton, it certainly was a bitter pill to swallow, given they came so close to securing a point from the contest.

Here’s how Goodison News rated the Toffees on the night:
Jordan Pickford 8
The shot stopper was one of the few standout performers for the Toffees who kept the opposition at bay. Has every reason to be proud of his exploits.
Seamus Coleman 5
Saw himself being beaten by Raheem Sterling on numerous occasions. Will have better games for the Toffees.
Mason Holgate 6
Looked assured at heart of the defence for the Toffees. Rarely put in a foot wrong and has every reason to be proud of his performance.
Michael Keane 5
Not an ideal showing from the English centre-back. Made some mistakes and was lucky to have not paid the price for them.
Jonjoe Kenny 3
Was found out of position time and again. Left-back clearly is not a position that suits him and he continues to falter playing there for Lampard.

Allan 6
There wasn’t much that the Brazilian midfielder could do. He found himself up against it from minute one and picked up an unnecessary booking as well.
Abdoulaye Doucoure 6
Showed Lampard exactly what he was missing in the middle of the park. Held his position, kept the play ticking and got forward when required. Not much one can fault about his display.
Alex Iwobi 5
Failed to be the first one to anticipate situations and paid the price for it. Lampard surely needs to replace him soon.
Donny van de Beek 6
Will get full marks for trying but it was a below-par display from the Dutchman. He was signed because of such high expectations and he’s failed to deliver for the Toffees thus far.
Anthony Gordon 7
Looked like the only Everton player that could win his side the game. Gave the City defence a few tough moments but unfortunately could not break the deadlock.

Richarlison 5
Did not make the most of the chances that feel his way. Not his best Everton game leading the line.
