Michael Owen predicts winner in Everton v Manchester City

Michael Owen has predicted a routine victory for Manchester City over Everton in the Premier League later today (February 26).

Frank Lampard just has one win under his belt as Toffees manager and he will be up against arguably the best manager in the world in Pep Guardiola.

Owen does not see anything other than a City win, given their form and quality among the ranks in every position.

He told Bet Victor, “Everton’s performance at Southampton last week was alarming. They never really threatened them, and their away form has been shocking. They’ve got the worst away record in the league and that needs to change soon. It’s going to be a massive few weeks ahead for Frank Lampard.

“That shock defeat to Spurs should serve as a wake-up call to City. They didn’t play badly in that game, but they made some uncharacteristic mistakes at the back. With Liverpool breathing down their necks, they can’t afford another slip-up.

“I can only see a City win here. Everton are struggling and City should score a few at Goodison. 3-1.”

Odds against Everton

The odds are firmly stacked against the Toffees for this one.

No rational person would back them to cause an upset over one of the best teams in the world.

There’s been nothing we’ve seen in Lampard’s side over the last month that suggests that he could have a plan for Guardiola.

He’s not known to be pragmatic either so we’re expected Everton to take the game to City.

While it may be good for the neutral, there’s a good chance that the Toffees could get battered and hopefully, the footballing Gods are on their side.
