Keith Hackett: Official explanation of Everton incident v Manchester City is ‘nonsense’
We’re delighted to welcome former Premier League referee Keith Hackett as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...
Keith Hackett has destroyed the official explanation as to why Everton didn’t get a penalty against Manchester City as “nonsense.”
The ex-FIFA official admitted that if whoever released that statement doesn’t see it as a clear and obvious error, he should leave his post.
Rodri clearly handled the ball in the area, with the Toffees now going on to write an official complaint regarding the matter.

“Absolute nonsense,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“The person who has made that, hasn’t got a clue about football. He’s not a football man. If he doesn’t see that as a clear and obvious error, and if he is a football man, he shouldn’t be doing the job he’s doing.”

Hackett is spot on, yet again.
If the person who insisted this wasn’t a clear and obvious error is making his own judgement, then it is one that shouldn’t have to be listened to by clubs.
That was simply embarrassing, and it cannot be allowed to happen again.
Officiating is getting worst, and this is the final straw that has led to many finally speaking up, starting with Frank Lampard.
