Richard Keys flys into fresh Tuesday rant after Everton ‘scandal’ with VAR

Richard Keys has flown into another fresh rant on Tuesday morning insisting that Everton still deserve an apology from the PGMOL.

The dust is yet to settle after the Toffees were denied a clear penalty for handball against Manchester City on Saturday evening.

Keys took aim at the “scandal” before unloading on Mike Riley for his backing of the technology over matchday officials.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Keys flew into yet another fresh rage this morning about the weekend incidents.

“Frank Lampard is right Everton are due an apology from PGMOL,” he said. “But we all are.

“Their incompetence has badly distorted the title race and Mike Riley’s insistence that VAR makes the final call is a scandal. Matchday refs must do that.”

Scandal.

We can’t believe it, for once, we may actually agree with Keys.

How Riley can keep on insisting that it is the technology that makes the final call is beyond us when it clearly isn’t working.

Any official that would have been given a second look at the handball by Rodri would have pointed to the spot, but yet that, for whatever reason, was not provided.

The PGMOL are facing heavy criticism which is getting worst every single week, but the truth is that they aren’t really helping themselves.

We need to start trusting our officials more, and a good start would be by giving them the chance to overturn VAR when they feel necessary.

This issue won’t rest, and we are still to see any kind of real explanation behind that awful decision on Saturday – make it happen.
