Everton could be pressured to drop sponsors amid frozen Alisher Usmanov assets

Everton are set to suffer a financial hit after Alisher Usmanov’s assets were sealed by the European Union, claim The Athletic.

The Toffees are likely to come under a substantial amount of pressure to cut ties with some of their sponsors as well.

MegaFon, one of Everton’s Russian-based sponsors and a subsidiary of major sponsor USM, had been removed.

Big blow

Everton were always going to face the music should anything happen to Usmanov’s finances.

He’s closely linked with the club and his influence on proceedings cannot be understated.

Losing sponsors will not just be bad in the short term but also in the longer term.

Given their FFP constraints, it’s hard to find a way to get out of it after this new obstacle has come their way.

Everton Farhad Moshiri

It remains to be seen what Farhad Moshiri’s take is on all this and how he plans to get the club out of yet another mess.

Thus far, he is yet to address this and he could be biding his time to see how it all plays out for the club.

In the meantime, Everton fans are left in limbo and are unsure as to how this will all pan out in terms of their owners, sponsors as well as FFP guidelines.
