Everton striker Salomon Rondon reveals what Frank Lampard told him

Salomon Rondon scored a brace as Everton won 2-0 against Boreham Wood on Thursday night (3 March) to book a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

The 32-year-old, signed by Rafa Benitez, found it hard to get going at Merseyside but says he is very happy with the contributions he made.

Rondon has revealed that Frank Lampard is very positive about him and has told him to keep working hard in every training session and make the best use of opportunities.

When the opportunity finally came before him, he grabbed it with both hands.

The striker said to Everton Tv: “I try to score every time I can play. It is special to score at Goodison Park.

“The manager has just told me to keep training and doing my best every training session.

“When you get a chance, you have to take it. I did that and I’m really happy.”

Lampard Effect

In such a short time, Lampard seems to have made quite an impact at the club.

There is a dressing room harmony at the moment, and Lampard is pretty clear with what he wants from every player.

He wants to give everyone a chance to shine, and exactly that has happened with Rondon.

He scored the first goal with a clinical finish shortly before the hour mark.

Everton found it hard to break down the visitor’s defence, but when Rondon headed home from Andros Townsend’s cross six minutes from time, the victory was sealed.

The goals will do a world of good for him. Lampard wants to be an important squad player, and Rondon will feel that he can make useful contributions till the end of the season.

It’s unlikely that he will start every game, but Lampard will now have more confidence to bring him from the bench to influence the game.
