Demarai Gray could play big role for Everton

Demarai Gray is set to return for Everton and he could play a big role for the club in the final months of the season.

The 25-year-old joined in the summer transfer window for a measly fee, the former Leicester City winger has produced some top-class performances in a Blues shirt.

In a season, where everyone has struggled for form, Gray has managed five goals and two assists, and it’s fair to say, he has been one of the most consistent players for the Toffees.

However, Gray has missed games through freakish injuries and illness this season. Frank Lampard confirmed (4 March) that Gray didn’t feature in the FA Cup tie due to fever.

He said, as quoted by Evertonfc: “Demarai Gray had a fever going into the game against Boreham Wood when he was due to play – and we’ve missed Demarai pretty much since I’ve been here, too.”

Indeed, Lampard has missed him. Blessed with raw pace and trickery, Gray has this ability to conjure up moments of brilliance.

Gary Lineker hailed him as a player with “bags of potential”, while Sky Sports pundit Tony Gale called him “brilliant” for his performance against Norwich City.

He is likely to return against Tottenham, and it’s a huge boost for the club.

Everton are teetering on the verge of relegation, sitting one point and a place above the drop zone.

Lampard will require his key players to pull the club out of this mire, and he will need Gray to produce spectacular performances.

Dele Alli, the January signing, will need more time to settle down, while Lampard doesn’t seem to have enough trust in Anwar El-Ghazi.

Gray is a dynamic player and can play in multiple positions. Against Spurs, Lampard will want him to show his class.
