Everton dispute Alan McTavish was shifted after Alisher Usmanov dealings – report

Everton have disputed that Alan McTavish was shifted from his previous role of commercial director due to dealings with Alisher Usmanov.

That’s according to Mike Keegan, who has reported that the Toffees’ decision to move McTavish and give his dealings to Richard Kenyon had nothing to do with the billionaire.

Kenyon is now said to have a great partnership team based in Liverpool, London and America as he looks to solve the mess of sponsorships being cancelled over the past week.

Writing in his latest edition of the Sports Agenda for the Daily Mail, Keegan shared an insight into workings at Goodison Park.

“Interesting, then, that the club — who it is believed will miss out on about £30million — are operating without a commercial director,” he said.

“In October, the highly regarded Alan McTavish moved from the role to managing director of women’s football. Rather than replace him, marketing chief Richard Kenyon saw his role widened to director of communications, revenue and international growth.

“Some have wondered if McTavish was shifted because so many deals were being done with firms associated with Russian businessman Alisher Usmanov, whose assets were frozen by the EU on Tuesday and the UK on Thursday.

“Everton dispute that is the case, and say Kenyon has developed a well-resourced partnership team with staff based in Liverpool, London and the US.”

Everton

Mess.

Wow, everything appears to be a real mess right now at Goodison Park.

Farhad Moshiri needed to break his silence after all of these commercial deals were either scrapped or cancelled in the past week.

Cazoo will no longer sponsor the club, alongside deals from Usmanov’s companies USM, Yota and MegaFon being ripped up.

That has led to a predicted £30million shortfall that needs filling quickly, with financial trouble already surrounding the club and their transfer business.

Moshiri can’t allow for many more failures, and Kenyon has been tasked with making sure that doesn’t happen in Merseyside.

McTavish leaving the role has left no specialist, with Kenyon simply getting these added to his current role at the club.
