Chris Sutton: Everton threw towel in v Tottenham Hotspur

Chris Sutton accuses Everton of giving up during their 5-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.

The Toffees’ mentality was questioned by Sutton as they appeared to stop trying midway through the game.

This resulted in them continuing to be in the dreaded relegation battle, something Frank Lampard was hired to avoid.

Via his personal Twitter account, Sutton wrote, “Kulusevski looks a special player. Spurs were very good but helped by Everton who were absolutely gutless. They threw the towel in.”

Shambolic

It was a disastrous performance by the Toffees, who got completely outplayed on the night.

They did not approach the game with any real strategy and it was obvious to see, given how they capitulated.

Lampard must take responsibility for this and make some big calls and some players just do not deserve to play.

Everton

Seamus Coleman may be a fan favourite, but his time as a first-team regular may be coming to an end.

Nathan Patterson is a quality young right-back who now needs to be trusted by the manager.

Hopefully, things improve or else the Toffees may get closer to the relegation zone in the next few weeks.

Whether or not Lampard is the right man for the job will be proven, given how the team fares in the coming games.
