Dominic Calvert-Lewin would be ‘perfect’ at Arsenal if he left Everton – Perry Groves

It’s not just the immediate threat of relegation from the Premier League that is worrying Everton fans as rumours circle around their players’ futures.

One of those who could leave is striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and ex-Arsenal striker and talkSPORT pundit Perry Groves believes the Gunners could be the perfect place for the 24-year-old.

He spoke to the Daily Star at the recent London Football Awards about where Arsenal need to improve and striker was the main point of concern.

“Without a shadow of a doubt, they need a centre-forward [in the summer],” Groves said.

“I would bring in someone like Calvert-Lewin. I think he would fit in perfect, his attitude is good, taught by Carlo Ancelotti and off the ball he can close down and press.”

Imperative

If Everton get relegated this season, which is looking more and more likely with every game at the moment, then their chances of keeping Calvert-Lewin are as good as zero.

A player who bagged so many goals last season before he was struck with injury earlier this campaign cannot afford to spend even a year in the second tier.

He has ambitions of playing for England more regularly and you can practically guarantee he won’t get a sniff if he’s playing away at the likes Preston every week rather than your Chelsea’s and Manchester City’s of the world.

His own form since overcoming a foot injury hasn’t been up to the same level he showed last season but that doesn’t mean he’s lost all of his ability.

Frank Lampard simply must get the Toffees firing if they want any hopes of keeping their current stars into the 2022-23 campaign.
