Everton face ‘financial disaster’ if they are relegated due to player contract oversight

Everton face a “financial disaster” if they’re relegated from the Premier League due to an oversight with players’ contracts, according to Telegraph journalist Matt Law.

Writing on the Telegraph website on 8 March, Law reports that he’s been told by “multiple sources” that players lack “significant” relegation clauses in their contracts in the event that the club does go down.

One of Law’s sources was quoted as saying: “Everton didn’t dream they would be in this position, but if they go down it could be a financial disaster.”

It is understood that Everton’s wage bill is the seventh biggest in the Premier League with numerous players earning over £100,000-a-week and the pressure on their finances won’t be eased due to this mishap with player contracts.

Wow

It’s just staggering, isn’t it?

Over the last year, Everton fans have been dealt with blow after blow and now we’re at the point where it looks as though the club is facing a real financial crisis.

Imagine being in the Championship, earning an absolute pittance compared to what you get in the Premier League, and paying players £100,000-a-week.

It’s unheard of and it can absolutely wreck the club.

Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright really do have a lot to answer for because relegation is actually something that has a good chance of happening in the next few months.

Our 5-0 defeat to Tottenham on Monday was a stain on this great club’s history and we’re started to get the feeling that could be it.

Frank Lampard has been made the captain of a sinking ship that has been sent to the sea in an absolute state.

Moshiri and Kenwright, look at what you’re doing to this club.
