Gary Lineker reacts on Twitter as Everton thumped by Spurs 5-0

Gary Lineker has reacted to Everton being thumped 5-0 against Spurs in the Premier League on Monday evening.

Having played for both sides, the Match of the Day host insisted that he would remain “quiet” despite breaking his silence to Tweet.

At the point of the message, the Toffees were already 3-0 down and cruising to a defeat in what was one of the weakest performances we have seen.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Lineker reacted to Spurs running riot in the capital as Frank Lampard watched on.

“When two of the clubs that I played at, and have a great affinity for, play against each other, I tend to keep quiet on here,” he wrote.

“I think I’ll continue that tonight.”

Embarrassing.

There were simply no positives to take from what we saw from Everton last night, and sleeping on it has certainly not helped.

The only shining light was that Spurs took their foot off the gas as the game went on in the second half, with the damage already done.

Lampard will have been seething with what he saw, although it is hard to imagine what the game plan was before kick-off.

Despite a somewhat positive start, the game was done inside 20 minutes and chances became somewhat non-existent after that.

With some of our fixtures to come in the Premier League, we are in deep trouble if something isn’t changed, and quickly.

Lampard will know that, and there will be some harsh words spoken at Finch Farm today, with the luxury of a day-off likely taken away after whatever that was last night.
