Kevin Ratcliffe shares major worrying issues at Everton

Kevin Ratcliffe believes Everton are currently in shambles at the moment and that there is no leadership at the club.

The Toffees have lost four out of their last five games in the Premier League, and they are teetering on the verge of relegation.

In a long interview with the Liverpool Echo, Ratcliffe has shared some of the major worrying issues at the club.

Ratcliffe said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo: “It’s quite worrying. I do worry as well whether we’ve got the right people to get us out of it.

“There’s got to be some kind of issue in terms of character because we see so many mixed performances.

“Somebody will get man-of-the-match in one game then the following week they’ll have a stinker.”

“Collectively they’ve got to take responsibility. Perhaps the defence doesn’t get enough protection from the midfield players but there just seem to be big gaps in the team.

“Whenever somebody makes a mistakes, there’s nobody there to rectify it. I don’t think they sense danger.

“It’s a concern that there’s no leadership in the heart of defence.”

Spot on

There are a lot of issues at the moment and it’s not easy to solve instantly.

Defence – this is the most problematic area for the Toffees, especially away from home.

Against Manchester City, Michael Keane gifted Phil Foden the goal, losing his concentration towards the end of the game.

Against Tottenham, the entire defence was all over the place. There is no leadership at the back, and Ratcliffe is spot on that no one is rectifying their mistakes.

Everton

It keeps on repeating every game.

Loss of form – Lampard is pinning hopes on his key players to deliver and most of them are either out of form or are injured.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a prime example. The Toffees badly need him to deliver, and yet he is struggling to regain his old form.

Tactics – Lampard has also made some tactical errors, especially in away games. He needs to find a proper system to get the best out of his players.
