Everton Bramley-Moore Dock stadium under threat – report
Everton could face a huge problem with their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium due to sanctions placed on Russian investor Alisher Usmanov, according to talkSPORT.
The Russian has had his assets frozen as a result of his relationship with Vladimir Putin amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The Blues have also suspended deals with MegaFon and USM which could affect their funding for the new development.
Associated Press correspondent Rob Harris told talkSPORT: “Everton suspended their sponsorship with Usmanov’s companies so they almost got ahead of anything happening down the line.
“It does pose funding issues, potentially for how they do fund the stadium, he had paid £30million just for the right to potentially get involved in the naming rights
“It just shows how far reaching the financial consequences of this ongoing war are and the fact is, particularly now with Chelsea, Abramovich is listed in quite some detail on a government sanctions announcement today listing his various dealings with the Russian state and just why they feel he’s someone that needs to be targeted.”

Maybe this is a good thing. Everton would look silly with a brand-new state of the art stadium in the Championship, wouldn’t they?
All jokes aside, this really isn’t the news the Blues would have hoped for. After years and years of speculation over a new stadium and it finally being approved with the work well underway, a potential world war has to break out to put their dreams on hold.
For many fans this has been the only positive thing surrounding the club of late and it is quite symbolic of the team’s form that it is now at risk.
Frank Lampard needs to get a serious grip off this team before the relegation nightmare becomes a reality and then the club would look really stupid if they were to complete the revolutionary stadium whilst not in the Premier League.
Thankfully there seem to be at least three worse teams than the Toffees this season so they might just be okay but the on and off-field concerns are mounting for the fans.
