Everton boss Frank Lampard shares honest Dominic Calvert-Lewin view
Everton manager Frank Lampard has come to the defence of striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin amid poor form on his return from injury, as per Liverpool ECHO.
The Englishman has failed to hit the heights he would have hoped since making his highly anticipated return from injury.
Lampard hailed the former Sheffield United forwards “desire” and claimed the goals will flood in once he is completely back up to speed.

Lampard ECHO: “I have to defend Dominic because he was part of a team performance that was not great and he was not at the level he wants to be.
“He knows that. He is an honest lad. He has come back from injury with a real desire to help out.
“There are bits we need to work on to get to the level he wants to be. A striker needs sharpness for two reasons; one for what we see when they score the goals, but two for how we want to play.
“To give Dominic credit, we know he is a top level player, desperate to come back, But we also know he has not played football for a long time.
“We need to work on that and as soon as we work on his fitness we will see the Dominic we all know who was plundering a lot of goals in the last few seasons.”

Laughable
The fact that some Everton fans are giving Calvert-Lewin a tough time is a joke to say the least.
He has only just returned from several injuries that have kept him out of action virtually all season.
The Toffees talisman has been working so hard to make his return to the team and give them the helping hand they need and just because he hasn’t come back and hit the ground running, he gets this type of treatment?
Evertonians need to be patient with – on his day – the club’s best player. The fans giving him stick will be the same ones singing his praises when he inevitably gets back up to speed and continues his relentless form in front of goal.
Hopefully he can work well with Lampard and co at Finch Farm in the coming weeks and gather some momentum to help the team out before the end of the season.
