Robbie Savage thinks Everton will stay in Premier League under Frank Lampard
Robbie Savage believes Everton will stay in the Premier League under Frank Lampard, but admits their league position is ‘frightening’ on current viewing.
The Toffees currently sit in 17th place in the Premier League table just one point above the relegation zone, but they have played less games than all the teams around them.
Savage, writing in his Mirror column, has backed Frank Lampard to handle the heat of the relegation battle and thinks the quality they have in their squad will be enough to see them to safety.

“Getting turned over 5-0 at Tottenham doesn’t look great, and their run-in looks frightening, but I still think Everton will stay up,” he said.
“When I look at new manager Frank Lampard’s squad, and the strength in depth available to him, I’m convinced they will stay the right side of the dotted line.
“Right now, he table looks a little bit more forbidding for Everton fans because they have played fewer games than the clubs around them. And if it goes down to the wire, the passionate atmosphere at Goodison Park can be worth a goal’s start.
“Frank will be able to handle the heat: He has played at World Cups and European Championships and won just about everything there is to win at Chelsea.
“But Everton will make life a lot easier for themselves if they take some points from their two home games with Wolves and Newcastle in the coming week.”

Balance
Currently this Everton squad is without doubt the most talented of all the sides involved in the relegation battle.
It’s full of international players, plenty with top level experience and the main reason for their current situation is because of serious underperformance from both managerial staff and playing staff.
Injuries certainly haven’t helped, but even still the run of just one league win since October is just simply unacceptable.
If the Toffees are to find themselves in the Premier League next season, they need to find balance on the pitch because right now their form swings from abhorrent to excellent depending on what ground they’re in.
Savage is more confident than many, but with some positive results over the next week maybe Blues will follow him in his thoughts.
