Danny Murphy and Ian Wright slam Everton in ‘worrying’ rant
Danny Murphy and Ian Wright held back no punches in their “worrying” assessment of Everton and what they must do to ensure Premier League survival.
The Toffees relegation crisis went from bad to worse with a 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Goodison Park on Sunday (March 13).
Murphy claimed it was a committed performance from Frank Lampard’s team but the lack of quality and confidence was the decisive factor.

Wright said on MOTD2: “They have got nine points in 20 games, that’s worrying, worrying form.”
Murphy added: “They are lacking confidence.
“There certainly was commitment from them today. So, in that respect effort, commitment and running.
“Just a lack of confidence and quality so yes, there is no guarantee they will get out of this.
“I think their home games will be the key because away from home they are all over the place.”
Pathetic
Everton were supposed to be half decent at home, weren’t they? At least that was the excuse every time the Blues suffered an away defeat whilst putting in an embarrassing performance.

Admittedly, Wolves have been excellent this season and Bruno Lage is doing a great job there, but the Toffees needed to win that game. In fact, they need to win every game or at least pick-up points if they don’t want to be playing their football in the Championship next season.
It could have been the perfect weekend for Lampard with most of the Blues’ relegation rivals losing, other than Watford and Leeds. Instead, those two teams winning have put Everton in a world of discomfort.
Not only have the Whites extended their lead in 16th to four points, Watford moved level with the Toffees on 22 points meaning it is only goal difference keeping them out of the relegation zone.
They do have three games in hand but being completely honest, Everton just don’t look like winning a game at the moment, especially with the increasingly difficult fixtures they have on the horizon.
