Everton lose out to West Ham in race to sign Joe Worrall

West Ham have reportedly beaten Everton to secure the services of Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall.

According to Claret and Hugh, the Toffees’ precarious position in the Premier League has made the London Stadium a more palatable destination for him.

The Daily Mirror reported in December 2021 that a bid in the region of £10million could be enough to tempt the Championship side into cashing in on the 24-year-old.

Shame

It’s no secret that the Toffees need at least two new centre-backs in the summer.

Yerry Mina has been injured for most of the season and does not seem too fussed about returning, given the current situation at Goodison Park.

Michael Keane has been an abject disappointment this term and an upgrade on him is the need of the hour.

At 24, Worrall is at the perfect age to come to Everton and become Ben Godfrey’s long-term centre-back partner.

It may take the duo a year to fully get used to each other but then they can be the first-choice pairing for the better part of the decade.

However, it seems like it may be too late now as the player appears destined to join the Hammers in the summer.

In other Everton news, Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has apologised to Everton with regard to his comments about them due to what’s been going on at Chelsea.
