Frank Lampard sends message to Everton players ahead of clash v Newcastle United
By Jake Tomkinson
Thursday night sees Everton face Newcastle in a game that is a must-win for the Toffees in their fight for survival.
Following on from Sunday’s disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Wolves, fans weren’t happy with the level of performance that the hosts put out.
With Everton now sitting level on points with the drop zone, only out of it due to a better goal difference than Watford, performance levels need to be raised to grind out some much-needed points.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Lampard said: “The Wolves game wasn’t a disgrace, but I understand the analysis.
“When you look at the Tottenham game from a footballing level, I didn’t like the game at all.
“We have to accept that people have opinions, but the players have to answer it on the pitch, it’s the only way, and you’ll be in these positions in relative ways so many times in your career, you have to get together, the players individually and collectively, including myself and answer it on the pitch.”
Answers will be needed sharply, with in-form Newcastle United arriving at Goodison tomorrow.
Newcastle have three wins in their last five games, and look a rejuvenated side under Eddie Howe, but with difficult upcoming games, this fixture becomes one of the most important the club will face this season.

Every game now has a huge level of importance for Everton, and with difficult fixtures lying ahead getting three points on the board against Newcastle is vital.
With two of the next three games coming against sides in the bottom half of the table points need to be accumulated quickly, with Watford and Leeds winning at the weekend making escaping a relegation battle much harder.
With games in hand there are more points available for Everton, and with the return of star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin expected very soon, there are still positives to hold onto.
After conceding against Wolves, confidence seemed to drain out of the side, but it’s time for everyone to stick together, managers, players and supporters must all play a part.
Three points against Newcastle would be a huge confidence boost, with a trip to Burnley on the horizon, in a massive relegation six-pointer.
