‘Battle’ – Neville Southall makes rallying cry to Everton fans before clash v Newcastle
Neville Southall has called on Everton fans to get behind the team at Goodison Park when they take on Newcastle tonight in the Premier League.
The Toffees currently sit outside the relegation zone on goal difference alone, but will host the Magpies in one of their games in hand on the back of five defeats in six games in the league under Frank Lampard.
With relegation looking a very possible scenario right now, club legend Southall took to his Twitter account to fire a huge rallying cry over to his fellow Blues fans to ensure they’re behind the team.
“Hi all Evertonians. Everton is my club, my passion, my life. We need to get behind the lads tonight and really give it to Newcastle,” he said.
“We have got to get behind our players. If they make a mistake we have got to cheer. We have got to make it so hard for Newcastle tonight. Fans tonight are the most important they have ever been.
“This is a battle to get us out of relegation. Everton Football Club needs you! They need you tonight and they need you to be patient, brave and more or less you have got to be loud. Up the f*****g Toffees!”
Rocking
If Everton want to have any hope of securing a positive result tonight, the fans need to make a lot of noise and really get behind the team.
Newcastle are in great form, with a late goal and a dodgy penalty decision against them the only reason they suffered defeat to Chelsea which ended a nine-game unbeaten run.

But Everton have just nine points from their last available 60 and it’s understandable that fans are frustrated and nervous about the future of the club.
They have their future in their hands right now though, because of the games in hand and if the fans get behind the players and can push them to get a positive result here then it could snowball into momentum and positive results elsewhere.
Defeat here would almost certainly condemn them because of their remaining fixtures, but the fans are the most important and Southall will be one of those cheering them on.
