Lampard to axe van de Beek: Everton predicted XI v Newcastle after Wednesday team news

Frank Lampard is predicted to make two changes to his starting line-up as Everton prepare to play Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Thursday night.

Jonjoe Kenny is suspended after he was sent off in the 1-0 loss to Wolves at the weekend while Lampard confirmed in his press conference on Wednesday [16 March] that Fabian Delph and Yerry Mina are definitely ruled out of the clash with the Magpies.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Lampard also cast doubt upon whether Dominic Calvert-Lewin would return to the action. An assessment of his fitness was due on Wednesday afternoon.

As a result of Lampard’s major update on Calvert-Lewin’s fitness, we do not expect him to come back into the side and the only two changes the Blues boss could make are to bring in Michael Keane for the suspended Kenny and axe Donny van de Beek to replace him with Allan.

Jordan Pickford is nailed on to start in goals and is likely to play behind a back-three of Mason Holgate, Keane and Ben Godfrey.

Seamus Coleman and Vitaly Mykolenko could retain their spots in the right and left wing-back roles respectively.

In order to freshen up the midfield a bit, we feel as though on-loan Dutchman van de Beek could be dropped by Lampard to make way for Allan.

With Calvert-Lewin seemingly not at 100 per cent fitness, we feel as though he could start on the bench against Newcastle and that means Lampard might go with an unchanged attack of Anthony Gordon, Demarai Gray and Richarlison.

In other Everton news, Richard Keys wants the Blues to build a squad around this up-and-coming youngster.
