Darren Fletcher reveals Frank Lampard injury update after Everton celebrations
The wild scenes at Goodison Park as Everton scored to beat Newcastle United 1-0 on Thursday caused more damage than first thought.
Alex Iwobi’s 99th-minute winner had seen manager Frank Lampard injure his hand in the melee that followed with the win so crucial to the Toffees’ relegation hopes [Amazon Prime].
The boss has now given an update on the condition of his hand through a text conversation with the BBC’s Darren Fletcher.
“I sent Frank Lampard a message to say well done on the result last night and ask how the hand was,” Fletcher said on the BBC’s Football Daily podcast.
“He replied ‘The hand was a small price to pay for three points’ but he did confirm that it has completely blown up.
“Next time you see him he might look slightly unbalanced with one gigantic hand.”

Commitment to the cause
Lampard has never been an Everton supporter but you can’t help but love how much he cares about his job as Toffees manager and you could see the relief explode from him on Thursday.
You never once saw that from Rafael Benitez while he was in the dugout at Goodison Park which is really the biggest difference between the two.
Benitez took all emotion out of the game for not only himself, but his players and the fans too which is why Everton find themselves in such a predicament.
Lampard is slowly turning things around for the better in that regard and you can really see just how much the players are willing to give to secure three points when it matters.
He might be inexperienced as a manager but Lampard can be a huge success on Merseyside if he keeps this kind of passion up for every game.
