Everton were to send scouts to watch Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall

Everton reportedly planned to send scouts to watch Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall take on Liverpool.

According to the Sunday People (20/02, pg.53), the Toffees are ramping up their interest as they look to secure a centre-back signing this summer.

The 24-year-old is set to take on their arch rivals in the FA Cup and it would be an ideal encounter to gauge how he handles the big occasions.

Worth signing

The fact that he’s never played a Premier League game should not detract the Toffees from signing him this summer.

The likes of Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey have looked nervy this season and have made a number of errors.

Yerry Mina, who appears to have been injured for months, does not seem keen on making a quick return to this Everton side.

There’s a good chance that he looks for a way out in the summer and he will certainly need replacing.

Worrall is a quality player not just off the ball, but on it as well and could help the team progress the ball from the back.

On numerous occasions under Frank Lampard, Everton have struggled to properly play out from their own box.

His signing could address that key issue in the team.
