Ex-Everton man Kevin Campbell comes to Frank Lampard’s defence
Kevin Campbell has flown to Everton manager Frank Lampard’s defence as the 43-year-old looks to “revamp” the club.
The Blues suffered a landslide defeat today (March 20) in the FA Cup against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Campbell believes the Toffees have given the new boss a lot to do and should be in a much better state given the money Farhad Moshiri has thrown at several very capable managers.

He said on talkSPORT’s Weekend Sports Breakfast Show [March 20]: “Let’s be brutally honest, Frank Lampard has come in and inherited an absolute mess.
“The club should be on a very sound footing and at least have a foundation with the amount of money they’ve spent and the managers they’ve had.
“But they’ve had to go for Frank to revamp, restructure and remould what’s there for now and keep them up.”
Patience
Anyone in their right mind can see that Lampard isn’t the problem at Everton. A lot of the fans have released already and are giving the former Chelsea boss the benefit of the doubt but the days of relentlessly going through managers have hopefully come to an end.

The Blues aren’t benefiting from that at all. It is actually making them regress as a club with Rafa Benitez’ short and rather unsuccessful spell at the club the perfect example.
The Spaniard came in already inheriting an awful squad, sold their two best players after falling out with them and found himself sacked a matter of weeks later.
That is awful from planning from the Blues chiefs and hopefully something they have learnt from this time around with Lampard.
He needs patience. Fixing this Everton team and the whole club for that matter is a huge job and the new boss has shown all the right signs that he is the long-term solution.
