Keith Hackett: Crystal Palace got away with clear handball v Everton
We’re delighted to welcome former Premier League referee Keith Hackett as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...
Keith Hackett has labelled Crystal Palace getting with a clear handball against Everton as a “joke.”
The ex-FIFA official insisted that those operating VAR need to understand the laws of the game much better, with a clear decision going against the Toffees.
Wilfried Zaha got away with the decision, despite footage showing he clearly punched the ball with his right arm.

“It was clear,” he exclusively told Goodison News. “He punched it with his right arm, it was deliberate.
“He just needs to understand the laws of the game, the criteria, that right arm, is he looking? It’s clearly handball.
“He’s propelled the ball forward with his right arm, that is handball, he’s got away with it. It’s a joke if you try and justify why they didn’t give it.”

Joke.
It is quite frightening just how bad those in control of VAR can be, and they appear to be getting worst with each passing week.
There is no world where this isn’t handball, it couldn’t be a clearer, easier decision to make, yet it is ignored.
So, you’re telling us that whoever watched that footage didn’t think it was handball? Weeks after the whole Mike Riley apology fiasco, it isn’t good enough.
Frank Lampard can be angry at his players all that he wants, he has that right to after the rest of the performance, but we can’t keep allowing officials to get away with decisions such as this.
In other Everton news, Simon Jordan has done his “homework” and has made a huge assertion on the threat of FFP sanctions
