Everton have option to terminate Frank Lampard contract – report
Everton have the option to terminate Frank Lampard’s contract at the end of this season, according to journalist Dean Jones.
The former Chelsea boss came in to replace Rafa Benitez in January following a disaster short spell at the club for the Spaniard.
With the 43-year-old also struggling as relegation fears loom, the Toffees could part ways with Lampard if they deem it to be a necessary move.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “From what I’m told, Everton do have the option to part ways with Lampard at the end of the season.
“I think it’s only a one-way thing, so it doesn’t count for Lampard too, as far as I understand it.”
Understandable
You can see why Everton have done this. They have had several disaster managers, paying each one of them huge fees when they have eventually been sacked.
The club wanted to get ahead of the game with Lampard by including a termination clause in his contract which would hopefully protect the club if a tough situation arises.
The main feature of the clause should be a pay-out cap if the Englishman was dismissed. Farhad Moshiri surely can’t afford to fork out more hefty sacking fees for a manager who has yet again made the club worse.

Of course, this is completely hypothetical. Hopefully, Lampard turns things around at Goodison Park after an understandably difficult start.
The only circumstance that should see the new boss forced out of the club is relegation. If he avoids that, he has done a great job because this squad is a complete mess.
He needs patience from the fans and board to make his mark on this team, bring in players, and build some momentum. Otherwise, they will be back to square one.
