Simon Jordan takes aim at Everton owner Farhad Moshiri, relegation would be ‘degrading’
Simon Jordan says that Everton owner Farhad Moshiri should be ‘in the firing line’ for the club’s current position, but thinks the club will be fine if they do get relegated.
Everton currently sit in 17th place in the Premier League, three points above the drop zone after their dramatic 99th minute win against Newcastle most recently.
But with tough games coming up they are still very much in the battle for relegation and Simon Jordan told talkSPORT, when answering a fan question, that he believes the owner deserves the most criticism for their position.
“What happens to big clubs when they get relegated is they find it very difficult to get out of the division again,” he said.
“I don’t think it’s going to happen to Everton, they’ve been close before. This is not where Everton should be. They should be somewhere else and there’s a few people who should be put in the firing line for where they are right now, most notably the owner, but that’s a different discussion.
“What happens if Everton get relegated is they’re going to have to get themselves together really quickly like Newcastle did when they got relegated, and get back out of the division.
“I don’t think it’s going to happen and they won’t be in a position where they’ll find themselves compromised financially because they’ve got a very wealthy owner that can stand it. But there will be an absolute degradation and degrading of Everton as a football club because there’s no parallel universe where a club like this, with the kind of investment that’s been put into it, can be anywhere near this.
“So while the question isn’t really being answered because I don’t think they’ll get relegated, if they were to get relegated they’ll lose so players. But bloody good job, in fact, some of those players could stay because they’re Championship players anyway. Specifically the back four.”

Harsh but fair?
Moshiri has put a lot of money into the football club and is close to delivering on a new stadium for the club too, but that doesn’t absolve him of blame in the current situation.
A lot of the money has been spent blindly, with big names and profiles targeted rather than the implementation of an actual plan to build anything substantial.
So while money has been put in, it’s helped contribute to the downfall of the club and the current position they’re in rather than helped them go towards their target of being a force in England once again.
Add to that his role in the decision to bring in Rafa Benitez this season, and his constant talking to the press but not to the fans, then Toffees are more than within their rights to be angry with him.
