View: Erik ten Hag comments ends Everton future for Donny van de Beek

The likelihood of Everton midfielder Donny van de Beek leaving the Toffees only looks to be increasing ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have interviewed his former manager Erik ten Hag with the Dutchman leading the race to take charge at Old Trafford, as per the Express.

The Ajax manager previously said whilst speaking to de Volkskrant via talkSPORT: “Donny, I find that hard. [It’s a] mortal sin.

“If you haven’t had a chance yet, then development will also stall. Every now and then you encourage them.”

The pair worked very successfully together back in Holland and should Ten Hag be named as the Red Devils’ manager; he would want to have a talented familiar face in the squad.

Disappointing

This is a real shame. Van de Beek hasn’t had a proper chance to settle in at Everton with the chaotic state the club is in currently.

Frank Lampard is franticly looking around at his players, trying to string together his strongest starting XI and being a new boy, the 24-year-old has struggled.

In a much better scenario, the new boss would have a lot more time to work with his players and understand all of their qualities that can be utilised within the team but that hasn’t quite worked out, similarly to his time at Manchester United.

He is a brilliant player who has shown glimpses of that during his short spell with the Toffees already and if he does stay which is now quite unlikely, he would undoubtedly show his best potential and be one of the players to help the team out of this mess.

Unfortunately, the Mancunians seem to be getting their act together which means they will be calling their man back which means Lampard won’t be able to steal him from under their noses.
