Brazil newspaper react to Everton forward Richarlison’s display
Everton forward Richarlison scored yet another goal for his country as Brazil won 4-0 against Chile at the Maracana on Thursday (24 March).
Neymar, Vinicius Junior and Philippe Coutinho also got their names on the scoresheet as the Selecao produced a dominating performance.
Brazilian newspaper O Dia was impressed with Richarlison’s performance, saying he “dominated” after coming from the bench.

The newspaper wrote, via Google translate: “In stoppage time, in the 45th minute, after filling in for Casemiro, midfielder Bruno Guimaraes played on the right to Richarlison, who dominated and finished in a cross to Bravo’s right corner, leaving no chance the Chilean goalkeeper no chance to defend that.”
Big issues
Richarlison has been a key player for the Brazilian national team where he plays mostly as a striker.
He enjoys the position for his national team but fails to replicate that for Everton.
There can be two possible explanations. First, the Brazil set-up, and the style of football implemented is different to how Everton play, and secondly, he is surrounded by better players while playing for his country.

This season, Richarlison has managed four goals and three assists for the Toffees. Given his wealth of talent, he should be doing a lot more.
Even Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be fully fit after the international break, it will be interesting to see how Frank Lampard uses him.
Ideally, he should be used either on the left side or behind Calvert-Lewin, where he will get more touches on the ball to make something happen rather than waiting for the ball to come to him.
In other Everton news, Jackson wasn’t the only one who loved what he saw from Patterson last night as this BBC pundit was in awe of the youngster.
