Manchester United have not been impressed with what Donny van de Beek has done at Everton thus far, claims Graeme Bailey.

The Dutchman was loaned out in January as he hoped to play his back into the club's plans.

However, the 90Min journalist has stated that it has not happened and he very well could leave Old Trafford for good in the summer.

He told Planet Football, "The Dutch international was desperate to leave United in January.

"He is playing, but he is not pulling up trees at Goodison Park and some at United will be nodding knowingly that he perhaps wasn't up to their level.

"Van de Beek could end up back at United, but it's safe to say he hasn't played himself back into their plans."

Not meant to be?

There was excitement among the Everton fanbase when the Dutch international was signed.

His arrival coincided with Frank Lampard's and Dele Alli's and there seemed to be hope that the club can turn around a corner.

However, nothing of note has happened in the two months since and the club are still languishing near the relegation zone.

Van de Beek has had just one or two decent games, but he's seemed off the pace otherwise.

While he could argue that he does not like playing in a deeper role, two managers at Manchester United too, deemed him not good enough for a regular spot.

Perhaps, he's not meant to be a Premier League player for the long term and should look for a move away from the club.
