Nathan Patterson hopeful of impressing Everton boss with Scotland performances
Nathan Patterson has sent a message to Everton boss Frank Lampard following an excellent performance for Scotland during the international break.
Scotland were held to a 1-1 draw by Poland at the weekend, with Patterson playing 66 minutes despite barely featuring for Everton since joining the club in January from Rangers.
The 20-year-old has had a tough time at Goodison Park so far but the defender said, via Daily Record, he was hopeful Lampard was watching because he wants to play more.

“It was just good to be back playing again,” he said. “I’ve been working hard in training to make sure I’m ready.
“I’m fit so I can go out there and give my best. That’s what I did. I have to make sure that when opportunities come along I show what I can do.
“I want to prove to people how good I am, no matter what the circumstances are. I want to prove to the Scotland gaffer he’s right to pick me and show the fans what I’m capable of.
“The manager shows belief in me and that was a great confidence booster. He picks me even when I am not playing at club level and that’s why I always do my best to repay him.
“Do I hope the Everton manager was watching? I hope everyone was watching. I always want people to watch me. It’s all about playing for me – that’s all I want to do.”

Chance
Everton are in a world of trouble in the Premier League and relegation is a serious threat to them as they enter their final 12 games of the season.
Yet for some reason Lampard seems intent on trusting his core group of players despite a series of lacklustre performances, rather than trying to change things.
Patterson played 45 minutes under Lampard against Boreham Wood and was very good, but was then subbed off as the manager switched systems. He’s not featured since.
While he was brought in to the club by Rafa Benitez just days before the Spaniard was sacked, it should be clear to everyone that Patterson deserves more of a chance than he’s had.
With youth and a point to prove, his hunger and ability could be a huge boost to the team in their battle against relegation and he’s shown he’s ready to step in if needed. He just needs the opportunity.
