Van de Beek £20m Everton dream blown to bits as Farhad Moshiri aims to sell up amid major losses
Donny van de Beek can probably wave goodbye to his dreams of signing permanently for Everton in the summer transfer window.
The Mirror reported on 18 February that van de Beek, 24, has no intention of returning to Manchester United in the summer when his loan deal at Goodison Park expires.
It is understood that he wants to sign for the Toffees on a permanent basis and will “push” for that to happen if a fee can be agreed between his loan club and Man United.

However, there’s a big problem.
Manchester United reportedly want £20milAion for the Netherlands midfielder, who’s played in all but one of Everton’s Premier League games since joining on loan in January.
And based on Everton’s financial accounts, that were published earlier this week [29 March], that fee could be an issue.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, the Blues recorded a loss of around £121million in 2020/21 and have been working with the Premier League to ensure that they do not breach Financial Fair Play regulations.
Amid all the chaos both on and off the pitch at Goodison Park this season, there’s also speculation that Farhad Moshiri is looking to sell his shares at the Merseyside club.
The Sunday People reported on 13 March in their print edition [back page and page 55] that after his business partner Alisher Usmanov was sanctioned, he’s decided that he’s ready to sell up at Goodison.
Losing Usmanov’s funding is reportedly a “savage blow” for the Toffees and you’d imagine that these latest accounts might only look more grim in the future.
And, of course, there’s also the threat of relegation from the Premier League – which would be a complete and utter disaster.
Even if Everton stay up, we fail to see how the club can spend £20million on keeping van de Beek, plus his wages, when there are so many financial issues right now.
