Jamie O’Hara stunned by Everton transfer as fan destroys defence live on talkSPORT

Jamie O’Hara has been left stunned that Everton have not addressed their defence in recent transfer windows.

A Toffees fan insisted it was “ridiculous” that more defenders haven’t been brought in given the shocking record at Goodison Park.

The likes of Jonjoe Kenny, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate were all dubbed as not good enough in the current side.

Speaking live on talkSPORT last night [31 March: 22:38 pm], the fan kickstarted the debate instantly.

“Our defence isn’t good enough to be in the Premier League,” he said. “Kenny, Holgate, Keane, Mykolenko – none of them stand out to me as defenders who can stay up in the Premier League.

O’Hara was left stunned by what he has seen at Goodison Park over the past year, with work in the transfer window not good enough.

“It’s almost surprising that it hasn’t been addressed this over the past couple of transfer windows because you’ve seen it’s an ageing back four.

“The amount of money that Everton have spent, surely that is something that they would have addressed.”

The fan summed it up perfectly with his response: “It’s ridiculous.”

Ridiculous.

Anyone with eyes can see that this defence has been nothing short of embarrassing for years at the club.

What the problem is, these new managers come in so frequently and all give these experienced players such as Keane a fresh slate, and they always let them down.

Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson were brought in as the future at full-back, and the latter has yet to be given a single chance in the Premier League despite how shocking those ahead of him have been.

That is embarrassing, and Lampard needs a long, hard look at himself.

As for the options in the middle, they have quickly become one of the worst central defences in the entire Premier League, yet it hasn’t been looked at in years.

Time for change is coming, let’s hope it doesn’t take us dropping into the Championship for it to finally happen.
