Kevin Campbell exasperated by Everton defender Michael Keane for what he did this week

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell admits that Everton have been victimised by bad refereeing decisions recently but says Michael Keane made it “easy” to send him off.

The former England defender saw red in the defeat at West Ham (3 April), the third Premier League game running where the Toffees have gone down to 10 men.

Sky Sports pundit Campbell is exasperated by what he saw and has bemoaned what the subsequent suspension means for the team.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News he said: “Yeah they have been the victim of some bad decisions but I mean, come on, the Michael Keane sending off on Sunday…

“He left the referee no choice. You leave the referee no choice when you go in reckless and rash.

“So again, there have been some really poor decisions against Everton but I think that one was an easy one.

“Hey, Michael Keane? Now he can’t play in the Burnley game and it’s going to be all hands to the pump.”

Keane has had an utter nightmare in recent weeks, so it might be better for him and the team that he can’t play at Turf Moor tonight.

He was unlucky that his error undid a battling display against Manchester City when he unwittingly gifted Phil Foden the only goal of the game.

But he was badly exposed in the 5-0 thumping at Tottenham, and now his careless red card has compounded an already difficult situation.

In other Everton news, Campbell has given a breakthrough talent no chance of taking off-colour first-team star’s place.
