Slaven Bilic shares Everton chances of Premier league survival

Former Everton player Slaven Bilic has claimed that the Blues have forgotten how to win under the pressure of a relegation battle.

The Toffees’ last-gasp 3-2 loss against Burnley last night leaves them just one point above the drop zone, despite leading the game 2-1 at halftime.

Bilic claimed it is a ‘shock’ that Frank Lampard’s side is amid a relegation dogfight so late into the season which might give their rivals the upper hand.

Speaking on Sky Sports News via Liverpool Echo, when asked if Everton had forgotten how to win, he said: “It looks like it. With the pressure, they have big problems now. It’s a massive club and they were aiming for the top eight, or whatever, for improvement.

“It’s not the first time that they were in this situation this late in the season. They have to start winning the games.

“Now we have four clubs and no one is enjoying it. No one is looking forward to being in a relegation battle, but Norwich, Watford and Burnley, we’ve been there already. They even went down with the same manager.

“But they know how to do it. They know how to cope. They’re not enjoying the situation but they are not afraid of being in this position because they have memories about this. Bad memories, but they know how to act.

“Frank’s got a big task.”

Shambles

Bilic is spot on. Everton has no idea how to navigate a relegation scrap because the players and the manager have never been in one.

Everton

This is what happens when you splash ridiculous cash on luxury players. They have no heart or fight in them for Everton Football Club that will help turn things around.

Take Burnley last night for example. They are the least glamorous team in the Premier League, but Sean Dyche and his warrior players got over the line – that is the most important thing and something the Toffees just can’t seem to do.

Lampard is used to trying to get the best out of his players at Chelsea and Derby but he has a much different and far more difficult task at Finch Farm.

These players have awful mentalities and look defeated at every single hurdle they face. Admittedly it has to be better from the former Chelsea boss but in some respects, he has his hands tied behind his back.

Watford is now the key to the Blues’ survival.
