Alex Iwobi’s performance against Burnley on Wednesday is the absolute epitome of everything that is going wrong at Everton this season.

Having spoken up earlier in the week in support of Lampard after he accused his Everton players of not having the minerals to stay up, Iwobi failed to prove Lampard wrong with his performance.

Being drafted into the centre of the midfield for this game to try and capitalise on his unquestionable talent on the ball, Iwobi looked impressive early on as he helped to drive his Everton team forward.

With his 20 successful dribbles this season [OneFootball] being one of the most impressive tallies in the side considering he has only made 19 appearances in the league, he is impressive at driving the team forward.

His end product (two goals and one assist) is lacking for a player of his quality, which may explain by Lampard chose him to move in into midfield. However, as was shown by his mistakes for two of the goals, his work rate and defensive work is well below par.

With only 32% of his tackles won and only 42% of his 124 defensive duels won this season [OneFootball] he is neither good enough nor working hard enough to cut it in the Premier League.
