Frank Lampard at risk of Everton sack – Sky Sports journalist
The Everton board have not ruled out the possibility of sacking Frank Lampard before the end of the season, according to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett.
The Toffees are in wretched form in the Premier League and their misery was highlighted ten-fold on Wednesday as they were beaten 3-2 by relegation rivals Burnley at Turf Moor.
Maxwel Cornet’s late winner for the Clarets leaves Everton just one point above Sean Dyche’s side above the drop zone with a very tricky fixture list left to play.
Dorsett believes that the Toffees’ board is very concerned with the team’s performances right now and Lampard may not be safe from the sack despite only arriving at Goodison Park at the end of January.
“Real concern in Everton board, I’m told, but feeling is changing manager won’t solve problems right now,” he said. £That’s not to say Lampard safe for rest of season. Relegation could be massive for Everton, with few players in squad on contracts that auto-reduce if in Championship.”
Can’t do any worse
Giving Lampard the boot would raise more than a few eyebrows around Merseyside and across the country given how little time he has spent at the club.
But when you look at the results and the demeanour a lot of the players have displayed since he joined, there isn’t much to convince anyone that he’s changed things for the better.

The form is certainly stackable when the club are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the Premier League, trying to avoid their first relegation in 68 years.
Not all of the blame can be placed at Lampard’s feet of course as the players themselves have to start taking responsibility too for their dire season.
But the manager is the easiest to change this late into a season so if Farhad Moshiri is going to change anything, it surely has to be Lampard who gets kicked to the curb.
